Privacy Policy for Unizin

Unizin Ltd ("Unizin") shall treat all data that it receives from its school partner ("School"), individual faculty members or students, or that it is otherwise exposed to within School data systems in the course of providing the Unizin service and platforms, in compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations.

Unizin acknowledges that it may receive, or be exposed to, "education records" as that term is defined under the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), 20 USC 1232g et seq., and related regulations at 34 CFR Part 99. Unizin shall employ administrative, physical, and technical data security measures sufficient to meet the requirements of FERPA and any other applicable federal and state laws.

Both Unizin and the School shall be entitled to use data gathered during their business relationship for the purpose of evaluating student and faculty use of, and satisfaction with, the Unizin service and platforms, and Unizin may use the data to develop enhanced products and services.

Unizin may disclose data it receives from the School, individual faculty members or students, or that it is otherwise exposed to within School data systems in the course of providing the Unizin services and platforms, to its agents or sub-contractors for any purposes reasonably related to the provision of Unizin services and platforms. Where Unizin discloses data to its agents or sub-contractors for these purposes, the agent or sub-contractor in question will be obligated to use that data in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy. In addition to the disclosures reasonably necessary for the purposes identified above, Unizin may disclose such data to the extent that it is permitted to do so by law, or in connection with any legal proceedings or prospective legal proceedings, or in order to establish, exercise or defend its legal rights, or to act under exigent circumstances to protect public safety or the safety of Unizin or its employees, agents, or sub-contractors. Unizin also may disclose and/or transfer such data to a buyer or transferee of all or a portion of its assets in conjunction with the sale or transfer of such assets. Except as permitted under applicable federal and state laws or this Privacy Policy, under no circumstances may Unizin give, sell, loan, or otherwise provide to third parties individually identifiable student data obtained in the course of providing the Unizin services and platforms.

Unizin will employ practices and technology designed to ensure the security of all School-supplied electronic and paper data accessed, used, maintained, or disposed of in the course of providing the Unizin services and platforms, but Unizin does not guarantee that such data will be completely secure from misappropriation by hackers or from other nefarious or criminal activities. Should a breach of Unizin's security occur that may result in unauthorized access to individually identifiable student or faculty data, Unizin shall immediately notify the School and shall cooperate with the School's investigation of and response to the incident. Except as otherwise required by law, Unizin shall not provide notice of the incident directly to the persons whose data were involved without prior written permission from School.
